一、选题的意义及相关研究文献综述（选题背景）

The American TV series are very popular in china for a long time,and set off a TV wave again and again.From the old TV series ,thousands of Chinese people are eager to watch the series,even most of them only get updated once a year.Here we can see how attractive they are.Especially the comedy series,for example，The Big Bang Theory，2 Broke Girls，MOM，Modern Family and so on.They are loved so much by Chinese.Now we have to think why those TV series receive so much warm welcome and at the same time,we have big differences on the cultures?In my opinion.,the translation plays an important role on this.

We all know that a good translated TV needs excellent translation skills.But a good comedy TV needs more than just excellent translation skills.As we all know,the 3 important points on translation: faithfulness, expressiveness, and elegance.Faithfulness means translation have to consistent with the original contents of the translation,Expressiveness means the translation of semantics have to be expressed smooth,nature and directly.Elegant is the hardest one.Faithfulness is a basic requirement, and the expressiveness is built on the faithfulness.

If the American comedy TV series’ translation can only reach to the expressiveness,and they only express the basic simple meaning of the American humor to Chinese audience directly.Can Chinese audience understand the humor well  and love it?I don’t think so.However,the popular comedy TV series do this well,and the lines of the series expressed well for the American humor ,which can let Chinese audience understand well and love them so much.Therefore,I think this is a project which we should research further.,

Question:how to do well on the  3 important points on translation: faithfulness, expressiveness, and elegance.especially the elegance.

Target:find out the skills of the American comedy TV series’ translation

Problem:how to find out the classic translation samples of the American comedy TV series,and sum up the main skills from the samples

三、拟采用的理论框架及/或研究方法、步骤

Steps

1.find out the classic translation samples of the American comedy TV series.and collect more than 1 translation ways. Analysis  and compare them.

2.Find out the best translation,and compare them with the 3 important points of the translation.Analysis the skills,and propose my own ideas for the translation

3.Sum up the skills of the American comedy TV series’ translation. Propose the suggestion of how to use those skills on the Chinese TV series translation.

A.use example to show the success translation of the  American comedy TV series.

B.compare all the translation and pick up the best translation example.

3.summarize the translation skills of the American comedy TV series,and analysis how to use it on the Chinese TV series translation. Put forward expects and prospects for the translation skills.
